CONFIDENTIALITY

Successful therapy depends upon the creation of a safe and confidential space where personal issues may be addressed in the context of a unique and professionally bounded relationship.

The law requires that I have a duty of care to all my patients and as a registered psychologist and member of the Australian Psychological Society (APS) I am bound by their respective codes of conduct.

This mean that all sessions are confidential except in certain cases where there is an immediate threat to a person’s safety, or where there is knowledge of current child abuse. In such cases the law requires these matters to be reported.
